Paris capital of light- Maison de l'Espérance (House of Hope) will contribute to shine a new light for Parisians – Gilles Georges, President of the Northern French Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (FFN), August 2008.

Maison de l'Espérance is the result of many years of work and reflection about how to share and show the Christian faith in Paris. The spiritual and cultural center situated in the 5th Parisian district (5ème arrondissement) was created to be a place of encounters as well as of cultural events centered around the discovery of the bible and the exercise of protestant worship.

The project had a three fold challenge: to find a place that encourages peaceful reflection in an urban environment, while offering a place whose priority is its environment and whose activities stay relevant.

The Maison de l’Espérance is the property of la Fédération des Eglises adventistes du 7ème jour – France Nord (Northern French Conference of Seventh-day Adventists), member of the Protestant Federation of France via l’Union des Fédérations Adventistes de France (UFA) (Union of Adventist Conferences of France).

Bought in 2005, the facilities were renovated after being given the permission to receive people, both handicapped and non-handicapped. The renovations started in December 2007 and were completed in August 2009. The purchase and renovations had a cost of 3 million euros, this amount was gathered via construction funds of the Northern French Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and by a worldwide offering for evangelism projects (Thirteenth Sabbath Offering) given in solidarity to the project by 20 million Adventists members throughout the world.

Maison de l'Espérance was inaugurated Friday the 27th of November 2009 in a ceremony where Jean Tibéri, deputy-mayor of the 5th district and Alexandre Baetche, associate-mayor of the 5th district, were in attendance. Present also at this occasion were Christian Bonnet, council member and secretary of the board of the French Protestant Fédération, and Bruno Vertallier president of the Adventist Churches of the Euro-African Division as well as numerous other personalities.

« As the coordinator of evangelism for the conference, my wish is that the center of evangelism serves the greatest number of people by using everyone's diverse and creative means to the glory of God. I rejoice in that everyone that will come to the center will come in contact with the gospel and discover adventism » - Samuel Saint-Elie, Director of Evangelism, Northern French Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (FFN).

« It's good to see the openness of your church. It's a good thing to have created a spiritual and cultural place, and I am happy that at the heart of the Latin quarter in the Parisian 5th district, a house like yours is present.. » - Jean Tibéri – Deputy-Mayor of the 5th district of Paris..

« My dream is that Maison de l'Espérance can become a place where Jesus would have felt happy to talk about His father, just like we will be happy to talk about Jesus.
